Saying good-bye

Over the 4th of July weekend, my parents declared their independence and said good-bye to Colorado Springs, their home for 35 years. While we were there last weekend, we attended our church that I grew up at for their final Sunday worship. It was a very emotional day for them as they have made some very close friends through the years. My dad was a deacon and ran the VBS's for several years.
The congregation threw a going away potluck for them and presented them with a picture of the church. The man standing up with my parents has been a close family friend for a long time. He used to draw bunnies on all the kids arms and they loved it!
It was nice going back to my "home" congregation. They all still know such much about me and and family and it makes us feel at home every time we come back. I know this isn't the last time my parents (or I) will go to church there, but saying "good-bye" was not easy!

My sister and I used to play on these steps all the time and when I saw Ashlyn and Rielyn on there it reminded me of us!

Someone had made a memory board of my parents/our family throughout the years and I just laughed out loud when I saw these next 2 pictures! I can't believe I'm showing everyone these, but they're classic!

So, my parents are now starting a new adventure in Missouri. They are settling (more like cramming) into my late great-grandmothers farm house on 460 acres near Lake of the Ozarks. Please pray for their sanity and that this new adventure brings much happiness over the next however many years!!

What a neat experience. I'm glad you were able to be there with them. And LOVED the pics!

I understand that feeling. My mom switched congregations 2 years ago and it feels a little weird not having a "home church" anymore.

Lovin' the pics!!!

I am pretty sure that we all have pictures like that. I fondly remember "getting ready" at your house with our curling irons and hairspray. Remember how the hairspray would bake onto the curling iron? Good times, good times...
