Periorbital Cellulitis

So, I took Ashlyn into the Dr. this morning because she's been acting very out of the norm. Yesterday she had a fever and was acting very lethargic and had the classic green mucous coming from her nose. This morning she woke up with a swollen eye too. So, after the Dr. Appt. it seems she has early Periorbital Cellulitis. Apparently, it's different than a normal eye infection. This is an infection of the muscle tissues surronding the eye. It's caused by the same thing though...the bacterial infection in her nose. So, he prescribed Augmentin and said that if her eye gets to the point of swelling shut...to bring her back in immediatly. So...not knowing what this Periorbital Cellulitis is, I looked it up on the internet...which you should never do in cases of illnesses (because you get more information than you should know). So...if you happen to visit the site above...you can see that it can turn into Orbital Cellulitis. It's where the infection spreads to the eyeball and causes the actual eyeball to swell (which is why he said to bring her back if her eye gets swollen shut) which requires hospitalization and can (in worst case scenarios) go into the nerves in the brain and cause bacterial meningitis! Yikes! I shouldn't have gone to the internet for information! I'm sure this antibiotic will help though and all will be fine (let's hope and pray)!
