Rielyn's 7th Birthday

I can't believe that my oldest turned 7! Time is just flying by! This year for her birthday she said she wanted to have a slumber party. So, her birthday was at the beginning of spring break and I thought that some of her friends might be going out of town. So, we invited 12 girls hoping that maybe half would come. Well, it ended up that all but 2 could come, so w/Rielyn and Ashlyn we had 12 girls!! We had pizza and she wanted an ice cream cake, so I got a chocolate chip ice cream w/chocolate cake from Baskin Robbins!
The girls played twister...
And then she opened her presents, she got a LOT of Hannah Montana stuff!
Kellan did great at the party...he just wandered around eating pizza with his shirt off! :)
I am some what of a planner, 12 girls having free reign of the house with no activities planned sounded like a disaster (gossip, spats etc) to me!
So, I planned a couple crafts for the girls to do! The first was flip flop slippers. We traced the flip flop onto some faux fur and then used carpet tape (strong stuff!) to stick it to the flip flop. Then we cut fabric strips and tied them onto the straps. The girls LOVED this craft! It was kind of tedious, but ALL of the girls (except Ashlyn) excitedly did them! You don't know how many times I heard "this is so fun...this is the best slumber party I've ever been too!" Granted they are just starting their slumber party years, but still! :)
Here is all the girls (minus 2 cousins who I don't know where they were at the time?!) with their slippers.
A closer view of their flip flop slippers!
The other craft was making necklaces/bracelets with beads. That one was a big hit too! Luckily I had my neice who is 11 and my younger sister there to help with the craft "stations"...that really helped things move smoothly! :)
The crafts took up a good amount of time and when everyone was done it was 10:30 so we started the movie.
High School Musical 3 had just been released and the majority of them had not seen it so they all watched it intently! I decided to go lay in bed for a little while since half of them fell asleep during the first part of the movie. I thought that the rest would pass out too, but I was wrong! At about 2 I heard some girls come up the stairs...I got out of bed and re-directed them and told them to quietly watch the movie (Madagascar 2 was the 2nd movie). Then at 3 I heard some loud giggling and went down to check on them. 4 of the girls were up doing some kind of yoga/gymnastics stuff right smack in the middle of the sleeping ones! I strongly suggested that it was time to go to sleep at that point! So, they did! :)
I think they might have slept in more, but Nathan had to go to work at 8 the next morning, so when he closed the door when he left, they all woke up. :( I dragged myself out of bed, put a big smile on my face and made a big breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes w/whip cream, bacon and sausage, and fruit.
I'd have to say that besides me being exhausted all day Saturday from pulling off a 12 girl slumber party...it was a huge hit! Next time though, we're cutting the number that come in half (at least!) :)

I love this post! Sage turns 7 at the end of this month and we are trying to decide what to do. I was thinking about letting 1 friend sleepover...but we may do a pj party with crafts. I loved seeing your crafts b/c that was exactly what I was thinking!
