So, a little over a week ago...last Thursday, Rielyn was out on the playground on a windy day. Somehow a wood chip splinter flew into her eye and stuck. Everyone looked in her eye and didn't see anything, but by dinner time she was holding her eye (which was swollen and red) saying it hurt really bad. So, I called the on-call Dr. and she said to take her in to the after hours place to see if her cornea was scratched. So, I did and it was a nightmare!! She didn't want anyone touching her eye because it hurt and is afraid of eye drops. So I was laying on top of her and the nurse was holding her head and the Dr. was prying her eye open while she was hysterical. He had to numb her eye w/eye drops, flip her eyelid inside out and pull out the splinter that was stuck to the inside of her eyelid, pour a dye in her eye that with a black light you could see the huge scratch right over her iris, then flush all the dye out of her eye w/cold water. My poor little girl...as a parent you never want to see your children in pain and this was killing me to have to watch her and make her go through this! So, since her cornea was scratched, he gave us a prescription for an antibiotic ointment to put in the lower eyelid pocket 4-5x/day. for 7 days. She was not happy about having anything put in her eye at that point so I bribed her! I asked her what she's been wanting to do for a long time that if she cooperated (didn't throw a huge fit everytime I put the stuff in her eye) we would do. Her immediate response was Incredible Pizza!
So, not only did she cooperate with putting the stuff in, she was reminding me the 4-5x a day that we had to put it in! WOW! What else can I bribe her to do?? Just kidding...I normally don't bribe my children...it could get way out of hand! So, that's what the pictures are from, our fun day at Incredible Pizza. When we went to spend our whopping 50 tickets we won, the lady at the counter must have thought I had the cutest kids ever and gave both my girls the baton twirling things in the last picture for the 50 tickets, when they normally are 100 tickets each! Kellan didn't have as good of a time, I think it was just too noisy and too busy for him. Thank-goodness Katie (my little sister...my lifesaver) was able to go with us! I bribed her too, I bought her lunch! :)
