On Tuesday, Rielyn's 1st grade class had a special Thanksgiving meal. They had 4 tables set up representing 4 different countries and how they celebrated their version of a harvest festival. The countries were China, Vietnam, Africa, and India. There were "normal" Thanksgiving dishes like turkey, rolls, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, and then dishes from other countries. China and Vietnam had moon cakes, Africa yams (sweet potatoes come from India...did you know that?), and an Indian dish of Pongal. Rielyn had the India table and each of them had a line they were to remember to tell of something of the celebration. Rielyn did have her line memorized, but I think she got a little nervous when it came time to say it in front of the class!
