Ready for baby food?

Ready or Not?

So, I tried baby food for the first time with Ashlyn today. I got mixed signals from her. She was smiling at first and lovin it, but then the last couple bites she was making funny faces and spitting it out. I guess it went well overall for the first experience. The doctor asked me at her 4 month appointment if I thought she was ready for baby food, but I said "no" that she seemed pretty content nursing still. He said that if she started waking in the middle of the night hungry that I could try it out. Well, for the last month (conveniently it started right after her dr.'s appt.) she's been waking up a couple times a night hungry. She was sleeping 7 hours a night before (which was heaven for me, considering Rielyn woke up every 3 hours for her first 13 months). I guess we'll try the baby food once or twice a day and see if it works!

Rielyn got her first big boo-boo on Saturday. She's managed to keep her accidents to a minimum up until now. I went to take some laundry upstairs and heard her start crying. I came down to see her lip and chin all bloody. I asked her what happened and I guess she tripped right in front of the couch and hit her lip and scraped her chin on the edge (right under the couch cushions). So, she's got a nice big scrape on her chin and a busted bottom lip. She handled it pretty well though. Nathan's toughened her up over the last year or so, which has it's advantages and disadvantages! But we won't get into that!

On a little side note though...in reference to my last entry about the sales calls, we got a handwritten postcard from the security system place that Rieyln talked to. She wrote that we have a "precious kiddo and for less than 52 cents a day we can protect him" with their system. So she's trying to use our little prank to her advantage! Hmmm, we'll have to work on our strategy for the next one!
