Oh, how time flies!! I can't believe Ashlyn turned 3 years old today! It feels like just yesterday that she was my little baby! We are doing a bigger family party next Sunday for her because we had a previous engagement that we had to attend today. But, we had to do something for her because she has been talking about her birthday party for a couple days. Last night at bedtime when I told her that her birthday was today, her face lit up and she started singing "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me..." like 5 times in a row and I think she fell asleep on the 5th time!
The previous engagement that we had today was Nathan's company picnic. It was originally scheduled for a month ago at Lake Arcadia, but it was right after all the flooding and the lake was closed. So, what do you know...a hurricane (okay, so not really a hurricane, but a Tropical depression) comes through Oklahoma City last night and I was sure it was going to be flooded again after 5 inches of rain dumped on us! But, the rain stopped just in time for the picnic and it was a really nice day out at the Lake! They had a cookout and tons of activities for the kids. The girls got their faces painted and they had 3 different moon bounces (one was a slip in slide and I didn't bring their suits, they weren't very happy about that) a rock climbing wall, and a bull riding machine.
They rarely get to go on a moon bounce where there are no other kids, but we got there early enough that they had it to themselves for a good half hour!
At the end of the 6 hour long picnic, it finishes with prizes. Everyone gets a ticket and numbers are drawn and everyone gets a prize. Ashlyn's number got called 2nd and so we got to pick out the best kid gift there (in my opinion) so we picked the Bratz girls bike! Ashlyn picked it out, but it's really a older kids bike, perfect for Rielyn. So we are somehow going to have to convince Ashlyn that she's too small for it! Rielyn's number was called almost last and they ran out of kid toys, so she had the choice of a pool lounger float thing or an alarm clock. She picked the float thing and gave it to me! How sweet! Glad it wasn't the alarm clock...I alreay have 3 of those named Rielyn, Ashlyn and Kellan! The adults had the drawings too, but they started with the service people and worked their way up, so the flat screen tv's etc all went early and we ended up with a toaster and $80 cash once they got to the managers! Oh well, it was fun and I'm pumped on the new bike! :)
